✔️ B.Voc Optometry & Opthalmic Technology is a 04 year undergraduate program under which, we train students to work as optometry technologist.
✔️The course will help Optometrist enhance their knowledge and skills of caring for patients with acute and chronic eye conditions affecting adult populations.
✔️The students achieve an extreme understanding of the vision care and treatment techniques. The surgical eye care and the knowledge of lenses are provided to the students as well. With this approach, the students develop the ability to diagnose the eye related problems and techniques to treat and provide care.
✔️The course will enable the Optometrist to build capabilities and competencies required for specific treatment plans on eyes including personalized care planning, health-education and follow-up.
✔️ Its aims are to provide practitioners working in the eye field with the specialist skills and knowledge to manage the care of patients with vision problems.
✔️The course will build on previous skills and knowledge and enable practitioners to explore specialist issues in-depth. The central focus will be on clinical decision-making in vision practice.
✔️The course is designed for Optometrist working within the vision setting and will focus on the assessment, care and management of patients with underlying eye disease.
✔️The course empowers Optometrist to acquire in-depth knowledge and understanding of the vision illnesses, prevention, care and promotion of health.
✔️Successful candidates can work in any healthcare establishment and provide specialized care with clinical decision-making and critical thinking.
✔️Candidates must pass 10+2 with any Stream (Arts/Commerce/Science) and must have obtained 50% marks in qualifying examination whereas SC/ST category students need to have 45% marks
✔️Minimum 17 years of age and the upper age limit is 40.
✔️ Good communication and English language skills
✔️Good physical strength and fitness
The aim of the course is to provide comprehensive, individually focused training that prepares the students for providing a quality care to the eye patients so that at the end of the course he/she will be able to perform the following:
✔️PEO 1: To make our students competent in the field of optometry and its allied areas.
✔️PEO 2: To inculcate the capability to work as entrepreneurs and techno-managers with strong ethics and communication skills.
✔️PEO 3: To equip the students to pursue higher education and research in reputed institutes at national and international level.
✔️PEO 4: To develop a working knowledge of optometry techniques.
Program Outcomes / Program Specific Outcomes describe graduate attributes i.e. what students are expected to know or will be able to do when they graduate from a program.
✔️PO1: Community Health –To identify the role of optometrist in the context of the community health needs in particular and the national health sector in general.
✔️PO2: Moral, Ethical and legal issues- Be able to perform a safe, systematic and appropriate eye assessment for various conditions while adhering to legal, ethical and professional standards of practice in a multitude of optometry settings for patients and clients.
✔️PO3:Critical thinking – Be able to analyze and interpret physical assessment and diagnosis and set appropriate short and long term goals and to choose, demonstrate intervention safely and document the progression appropriately.
✔️PO4: Analytical skills – To utilize analytical skills, critical inquiry and evidence based practice to make clinical decisions essential for autonomous professional practice.
✔️PO5: Collaboration – To work as independent Optometrist or in conjunction/ collaboration with a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team to diagnose and treat eye disorders .
