Bachelor of Vocation in Dialysis Technology (B.VoC DT)
ACQUIRE THE RESEARCH BASED KNOWLEDGE AND PROCEDURAL SKILLS NECESSARY TO DELIVER A HIGH STANDARD OF CARE TO THE PATIENTS
Students in Shri Ram Medical College’s Bachelor of Vocation in Dialysis Technology (B.VoC DT) programme learn the ins and outs of dialysis care by studying topics like basic anatomy, physiology, pathology, dialysis preparation, dialyser setup, dialysis prescription interpretation, extracorporeal circuit, maintenance of the Renal equipment, patient preparation, equipment monitoring, venepuncture and local anaesthetic administration, safety and sanitization, emergency intervention
The B.VoC DT programme prepares students for demanding careers in a variety of settings, including hospitals with dialysis units, teaching positions at institutions that offer dialysis technology education or programme education programmes, and technical positions. They may take care of equipment maintenance and repairs for dialysis centres.
With a Bachelor of Vocation in Dialysis Technology, you can qualify for jobs such as:
- Nephrologist
- Professionals in Dialysis
- Clinical Coordinator
- Professionals in the Health Care Industry
- Technicians in Dialysis
The Bachelor of Vocation in Dialysis Technology program’s primary objective is to train competent professionals by emphasising clinical competence, technical expertise, and research. A high level of care for patients with chronic kidney disease who require renal replacement therapy is learned, and students have the theoretical and practical understanding to provide it.
The Bachelor of Vocation in Dialysis Technology programme is designed to help students grow into competent health care providers and dialysis researchers. The goal of the Bachelor of Vocation in Dialysis Technology programme is to educate the next generation of dialysis professionals who can effectively tackle the complex issues associated with renal replacement therapy.
The Dialysis Technician Is Responsible For:
- Assembles, tests, and maintains hemodialysis equipment and systems to treat patients with renal failure.
- For use, the dialyzer and tubing must be attached to the machine.
- Prepares dialysate by following the prescribed recipe.
- Begins dialysis procedures using proper accesses, takes and records vital signs, gives fluid therapy or other treatments as prescribed, and maintains accurate records of all procedures.
- Guarantees that all aspects of patient treatment and services adhere to applicable local, state, and federal laws.

GET A LEARNING ENVIRONMENT THAT FOSTERS CRITICAL THINKING, PROFESSIONAL BEHAVIOUR, AND ENCOURAGES LIFELONG LEARNING.
The Bachelor of Vocation in Dialysis Technology (B.VoC DT) programme at Shri Ram Medical College focuses on a subspecialty of nephrology (care of the kidneys). Patients with either acute or chronic renal failure are treated with dialysis. Dialysis is the only renal replacement therapy except kidney transplantation for patients with mild to severe renal disorders. It’s a last resort for saving lives in an emergency.
Technicians who have earned a Bachelor of Vocation in Dialysis Technology (B.Voc.DT) are more equipped to manage dialysis equipment. Technicians in the dialysis field are responsible for more than just getting patients ready for and keeping an eye on their treatments; they also write up reports detailing what they saw during and after dialysis. As part of their training, they learn to operate specialized machinery.
Students at Shri Ram Medical College learn about various dialysis equipment from both a diagnostic and therapeutic standpoint. Students learn fundamentals of anatomy and physiology, how dialysis machines work, how to interpret a prescription, proper hygiene practices, how to handle an emergency, and much more. Additionally, they have the opportunity to gain internship experience at prestigious medical facilities.
Students with a B.Voc in Dialysis Technology can find employment in any healthcare facility that provides dialysis services, including public and private hospitals, dialysis centres, and other medical practices. They typically function as part of a larger team, led by fully licenced physicians. Opportunities such as Dialysis Technician, Dialysis Supervisor, and Dialysis Assistant are open to them. In order to become a lecturer or instructor at a school that provides dialysis technology education or patient education, one must complete an appropriate Master of Vocation in Dialysis Technology (M.VoC DT) course.
After passing the B.Voc in Dialysis Technology, a student should have a thorough understanding of:
- The human body, its physiological and biochemical mechanisms in both healthy and diseased states, and the light microscopic and ultrastructural characteristics of human specimens.
- Ability to effectively and precisely explain knowledge of the structure and functional link of blood constituents with illness process.
- Keep up with the most recent innovations and advancements in the medical laboratory sciences.
- Learn cutting-edge research methods and stay current on the most recent developments in diagnostic laboratory testing for the medical field.
- Develop a taste for scientific inquiry and learn to spot gaps in our understanding.
- As a Unit manager/supervisor or healthcare administrator, you’ll need to be able to interpret the results for doctors and nurses.
- As an educational consultant or Dialysis coordinator, etc., it is important to be able to successfully communicate with students and colleagues from a wide range of medical and paramedical disciplines.
- Be capable of combining results from dialysis testing with those from other medical specialties when necessary.

Dr Pramod Khatri –
I really appreciate Shri Ram Medical College’s B.VoC DT programme. Even though there is a lot to learn from recent updates in Dialysis, everything is fascinating, and that makes it all worthwhile. Even anatomy and physiology of human is fascinating.
